Our Vision
A Regenerative, Climate-Positive Marine Economy
Marine Permaculture Seaforestation is building the world's most scalable nature-based ocean solution — restoring kelp forests, sequestering carbon, and generating food security and livelihoods for coastal communities. Our approach is grounded in decades of peer-reviewed science and field-validated technology.

The Crisis
The Ocean Is Absorbing Our Climate Emergency
The upper ocean is the world's primary heat sink — and it is failing. According to IPCC estimates, 93% of the heat captured by greenhouse gases ends up in the upper ocean. As sea surface temperatures rise, the natural systems that regulate marine productivity are breaking down.
95% of California Kelp Lost
Macrocystis kelp forests have collapsed to just 5% of their historic extent, driven by chronic ocean warming and the failure of natural upwelling cycles.
The "Warm Blob" Devastation
Between 2008 and 2014, a persistent marine heatwave decimated kelp cover across California's coast. Combined with a strong El Niño in 2015, entire forest ecosystems collapsed within months.
170 Years of Decline
Historical kelp maps of Santa Barbara document collapse from 1853 to 2007 — a slow-motion crisis that accelerated into near-total collapse as ocean temperatures exceeded critical thresholds.
The Solution
Marine Permaculture: Deep Cycling for Ocean Regeneration
Marine Permaculture (MP) Platforms use a proprietary deep cycling system to bring cold, nutrient-rich water from depth to the surface — mimicking natural upwelling without its drawbacks. Unlike conventional methods, Marine Permaculture does not deplete surface nutrients, does not upwell stored ocean carbon, and is fully resilient to storm conditions.
Zero Extractive Inputs
Powered by sunlight, seawater, and atmospheric nutrients only. No fertilizers, freshwater, or pesticides — ever.
Zero Toxic Outputs
Every output — from harvested seaweed to dissolved nutrients — is either valuable or entirely benign.
Regenerative Abundance
Restores marine ecosystems, creates food and energy, generates employment, and sequesters carbon — simultaneously and at scale.
Storm-Resilient Design
Validated through a direct CAT5 Super Typhoon Rai impact. The platform submerged to 5m for protection and emerged structurally intact.
Proven Technology
Field-Validated. Ocean-Tested. Storm-Proven.
Marine Permaculture is not a theoretical concept. It is a rigorously tested technology with more than two years of Pacific deep ocean testing and multiple growing seasons of documented results in the Philippines. Each trial cycle has shown dramatic, repeatable improvements in seaweed growth rates.

Carbon Science
Measuring What Matters: Verified Carbon Removal
Deep Ocean Sequestration
Detached seaweed biomass sinks naturally into the deep ocean, where carbon is locked away for centuries to millennia:
  • 300m depth — ~100-year sequestration horizon
  • 1,000m depth — ~1,000-year sequestration horizon
Unlike fire-prone terrestrial forests, marine carbon storage is passive, permanent, and entirely natural.
1 km² of Marine Permaculture Sequesters or Avoids:
  • ~8,000 t CO₂e directly sunk into deep ocean
  • ~10,000 t CO₂e avoided from N₂O nitrate fertilizer application
  • ~12,000 t CO₂e avoided from fertilizer manufacturing, fuel, and energy
  • ~30,000 t CO₂e total sequestered or avoided per km²
The Climate Foundation is conducting a rigorous two-year Marine Permaculture Carbon Cycling Study, deploying underwater gliders, sediment traps, satellite integration (NASA PACE), and hurricane-proof surface buoys.
Value Chain
BIGrow Biostimulant: From Ocean to Farmland
Harvested seaweed is processed into BIGrow, a proprietary seaweed-based biostimulant that dramatically reduces synthetic fertilizer use while boosting crop yields. Government-run field trials across the Philippines have confirmed extraordinary results across rice, Chinese cabbage, and row crops.
100%+ Yield Increase
2025 Philippine government field trials: BIGrow increased rice yields by over 100%, consistently outperforming conventional NPK fertilizer alone.
Significant Fertilizer Reduction
BIGrow-treated plots achieved higher yields while using less synthetic fertilizer — reducing input costs and cutting downstream nitrous oxide emissions.
Pure Seaweed — No Additives
Just cold-processed seaweed extract. In the highest-performing 2025 trial arm, rice yields exceeded 5 t/ha — more than double the control group.
Market Opportunity
A $900M+ Revenue Pathway to Gigatonne Impact
Marine Permaculture is positioned at the intersection of three of the world's fastest-growing markets: the global seaweed economy (projected $20B+ by 2026), the $40 trillion ESG investment market, and the emerging voluntary carbon credit market. The phased revenue model scales from biostimulant sales to full biorefinery operations within 12 years.

Seaweed markets encompass food, feed, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, fiber, textiles, bioplastics, carbon-negative biofuels, and verified carbon credits — with 20–40% of excess biomass sinking naturally to sequester carbon.
Marine Clouds & Planetary Cooling
Rebrightening the Ocean's Natural Cloud Shield
Marine Permaculture platforms do more than grow seaweed. Offshore kelp and algae forests naturally emit Dimethyl Sulfide (DMS), isoprene, and ammonia — biogenic gases that seed Cloud Condensation Nuclei (CCN), expand marine cloud fraction, and reflect solar radiation back into space.
Tropical marine cloud cover has declined 10% over 30 years, causing a 2 W/m² loss of reflectivity. IMO aerosol regulations have accelerated this by removing natural cloud-forming particles from shipping emissions. The radiative imbalance is now 4x worse than 25 years ago — intensifying typhoons, marine heatwaves, and urban cooling loads. Sea surface temperatures have risen 1°C since the 1980s, confirmed by NASA CERES satellite data.

Marine Permaculture arrays offer a safe, scalable, biogenic pathway to cloud brightening — without geoengineering risks. Paired with sub-micron sea spray generators on merchant vessels, this approach could deliver immediate, measurable planetary cooling with full co-benefits: blue carbon, marine biodiversity, and climate-resilient seaweed harvesting.
